107 opened envelopes fill the floor of the room. Torn open with a cutter, they fully expose their interiors; in their unfolded forms, they resemble floor plans of rooms. For me, a closed envelope has always been a small, protected private space.

This work is closely connected to my own experience of trying to open myself to new environments and unfamiliar people in order to belong. By opening and unfolding the envelopes, I turn this personal side outward. In this way, I invite others into the space that is me.
